D. B. Mauck Dies at
Home in Huntington
Daniel Buswell Mauck, born and reared at Cheshire, died at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, 2542 Third avenue, Huntington. He would have been 79 years old on March 15. For two weeks he had been bedfast as a result of a nervous breakdown and a heart affection.

When in his early 20's, having clerked in a Cheshire store, he went to Proctorville and engaged in the mercantile business for many years and later the banking business. In 1899 he was elected representative from Lawrence county to the legislature, serving two terms, being a colleague and intimate friend of the late Frank B. Willis and also of Hollis C. Johnston of this county.

Ten years later he moved to Huntington and entered the grocery business but retired in 1919.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Watters Mauck, and three sisters: Mrs. Hattie Bennett and Miss Allie Mauck, both of Middleport, and Mrs. Bertie Humphrey, wife of Dr. W. A. Humphrey, Columbus Judge R. J. Mauck and Squire Mauck of this city, were nephews. two sons preceded him in death. One of these, Dan, died from injuries received in a bicycle accident near Cheshire.

Since early in life Mr. Mauck was a member of the Free Will Baptist church. He was also a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges of Proctorville.

Funeral services were held at 2;30 o'clock this afternoon at the residence. Dr. M. L. Wood, pastor of the Huntington Fifth Avenue Baptist church, and Rev. E. E. Steele, pastor of the Proctorville Methodist Episcopal church, officiated. Burial will be at the Rome cemetery back of Proctorville.
