Sister Annunziata was practically every student's favorite teacher at Mother of Sorrows school in Blue Island, where she taught for decades.

Born Biaggia "Bessie" Coniglio in Chicago to Sicilian immigrant parents, Sister Annunziata was a Servite Order nun for 66 years and an English teacher nearly as long. She didn't like the name Bessie, she always said, and was glad to get her religious name, Annunziata.
