He was born Sunday, June 16, 1912, in Wade to George Herndon Dunegan Sr. and Gertrude Elizabeth (Chiles) Dunegan. He married Maudie Powell Feb. 24, 1939, in Albany. He was a longtime resident of Bryan County. He enjoyed taking care of animals, gardening, farming and ranching.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill, Roy and Millard and sisters Mae and Vera.

He is survived by his wife of the home; son James Dunegan and wife Sandy, Calera; daughter Winnie Fox and husband Butch, Durant; sister Lottie Long and husband George, Goldsboro, N.C.; six grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Albany Baptist Church for George H. "Buster" Dunegan, 94, Albany, who died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. Rev. Anthony Williams and Rick Hammel will officiate.

Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, Albany, with James Heflin, Jerry Heflin, Jim Sullivan, Kenneth Morton and Jack Mitchell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James Castleberry, Bob Williams, Don Staton, Jerry Fuller, Gene Potts and Frank Strickland.
