Mrs. Cora Ella Weikel, 80, Shamokin R.D. 1, east of Gowen City, died this morning [July 23, 1957] in Shamokin Hospital. Mrs. Weikel, who was ill for two years, fell last Friday and had been a patient in the hospital since last Saturday. A daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Haas) Dunkelberger, the last Shamokin R.D. woman was born December 7, 1876, in Hepler. She was married to Ellsworth Weikel November 11, 1894, in the parsonage of Line Mountain Church. Mr. Weikel died four years ago. Mrs. Weikel was a member of Gowen City Reformed Church, the Willing Workers Quilting Club, and the Sunday school of that congregation. Survivors include six sons, Lester, Philadelphia; Stanley, Shamokin; Elwood and Orville, Gowen City; Guy, North Canton, Ohio; and Glenn, Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley Latsha, Shamokin R.D. 1, with whom Mrs. Weikel made her home since the death of her husband, and Mrs. Frank Fertig, Northumberland; two sisters, Mrs. Leon Maurer and Mrs. Maude Yost, Philadelphia; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Major Paul W. Weikel, and Harvey Weikel, met death in accidents. The former was killed in an airplane crash January 16, 1953, and the latter son met death in a mine accident at Locust Gap Colliery in 1941. Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Ella Weikel, Shamokin R.D. 1, will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in St. Paul's Reformed Church, Gowen City. Rev.
