Joined 2nd SC Regiment when The War and fought in all the major battles in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Pennyslvania. He joined State service as a Private 8 Jan 1861 and was mustered into Confederate Service on 22 May 1861. He was slightly wounded at the Battle of Seven Days, June 1862 which required that his arm be amputated. He continued to serve in some capacity, appears on all musters until wounded at Chicamauga and sent home on furlough to recover. Made it as far as Augusta where he died on 29 Oct 1863 in Georgia Hospital No. 3 He was listed as 5'8", with Black Eyes and Hair.
