Wayd was born on Nov. 7, 1933 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Gilbert and Ila Nyborg Jenkins. Wayd spent his childhood in St. Anthony and loved the Snake River and the surrounding area. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.
Wayd graduated from University of Utah with a degree in engineering. He worked for Schlumberger Oil in Paris, France. Wayd married Barbara Todd in Salt Lake City in 1963 and they spent the first several years in San Francisco working for Westinghouse Electric. Transferred to Salt Lake in 1966 where he worked for the remainder of his career.
Wayd enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, and his weekly card games with his sister Norma and family. Wayd was known for his quick wit and intelligence.
Preceded in death by parents, brother Ray, sisters Norma Christensen and Elaine Williams and in-laws Clarence and Agnes Todd.
Survived by his loving wife Barbara, children Allison (Jerry) Turner and Eric Jenkins. Grandchildren; Chris (Erica) Turner, Jeremy Turner, Allison Collette and great granddaughter Olivia Turner and much loved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at First Congregational Church (2150 S Foothill Blvd) at 11 am, with a viewing one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Congregational Church.
