Gladys "Natalie" (Totman) Higgins, formerly of Brockton, Mass., passed away peacefully in Chesapeake, Va., on Dec. 4, 2010. She was 97 years old. Natalie was born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Thaddeus W. Totman, a Brockton Deputy Fire Chief and Gladys M. (Whitten) Totman. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Higgins, a decorated World War II Veteran and long time Brockton City employee, and the sister of the late Thaddeus W. Totman Jr. of Old Lyme, CT. She was the mother of CDR John P. Higgins USN (Ret.) of Chesapeake, VA and the late Gary Griffith of Brockton. She was the grandmother of Edward P., Natalie M., and Kimberly A. Higgins of Chesapeake, VA and Cary Griffith Jr. of Deltona, FL. Great-grandmother of Cary Griffith III of Deltona, FL. Natalie was a graduate of Brockton High School and held a degree in Household Arts from Leslie College in Boston, MA. She was a long time employee of the Brockton Hospital, where she worked as a dietitian. Natalie enjoyed traveling, gardening, raising Cocker Spaniels and Scottish Terriers and spending time with her grandchildren. A private service and burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
