Son of Robert and Mary McClary Taylor

Mr. Taylor taught school in Fulton county for a few years, moved to Iowa with his family and engaged in mercantile business at Troy and Ottumwa, but returned in 1866.

Mrs. Harriet Taylor was born in Buckheart township, this county, and is the daughter of A. Jackson and Jane (Hendershot) Whitnah, both of whom reside in Canton. She was united in marriage with Samuel Taylor March 17, 1853. They had 8 children: Charles Edward, 1858-1918, m. 1st. Josephine V. Hill, m. 2nd, Ida P. Oppy, Margaret Jane (Jennie) (McKee)1860-1959, Andrew J., 1852-1958, m. Lillian McBroom, Calvin Arthur Taylor, 1864-1904, m.Fannie Mariah Poland, Mary Carrie Taylor, b. 1867-1870, Angeline May (Anna), 1869-1934, m. J. S. Steele, Flora Alice Taylor, 1871-1967, m. Arthur Raymond Whitnah, and Evelyne Taylor, 1876-1958, m. A. Wesley Davidson.
