EAST PEORIA -- Mary Lucille "Ruth" Deckard, 94, of East Peoria, died at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at her daughter's home. She formerly lived on Grinnell Street in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Wilton Mortuary. The Rev. Robert Debolt will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Valley Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight and one hour before the service Friday at the Wilton Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Medical Center Hospice Program.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1909, in Green Valley to John Henry and Emma Elizabeth Storck Ruth Sr. She married Raymond Taft Deckard on Feb. 7, 1933, in Lafayette, Ind. He died Dec. 4, 1983, in Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant son, Raymond Franklin; two daughters, Gloria Eakle and Myrna Deckard; one granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving is a son, Stanley (Meitsu Lin) Deckard of Fullerton, Calif.; five daughters, Beverly (James) McMahon of Anchorage, Alaska, Joyce (Stephen) Blankenship of Washington, Gwendolyn (Michael) Hyde of Hanna City, Arlene (John) Beechler of Metamora and Sharon Davis of East Peoria, with whom she made her home; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.

Deckard worked at Methodist Medical Center for more than 20 years, retiring in 1967.

She attended Christ Church, United Church of Christ in Germantown Hills.

She was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club, the Methodist Retirees Club and the Gold Star Air Force Mothers Club.
