Mr. Gerald Wayne Peeler, affectionately known by many as "Jerry", age 64, of Islandton, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, March 3, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2011, from Adnah United Methodist Church, Adnah Church Road, Islandton, with The Reverend David Cox and The Pastor Michael Coxwell officiating. Interment with military honors provided by the United States Army will follow in the churchyard.

Mr. Peeler was born November 19, 1946, in Portsmouth, Virginia, and was the only child of the late Clarence Stough Peeler and the late Grace Epps Peeler.

He served his country faithfully in the United States Army having worked at the Pentagon and was a graduate of Newberry College with his Bachelors degree in Business Administration.

He was employed with the Social Security Administration in Walterboro having retired after forty years as a Claims Representative.

He attended Adnah United Methodist Church. Jerry loved the outdoors and was an avid turkey hunter as well as fisherman, enjoying both fresh water and saltwater fishing. He was extremely dedicated to his family, always providing the best for them and supporting his wife and children in all their endeavors.

Surviving are: his loving wife to whom he would have been married to for thirty years this month, Mrs. Nancy Godley Peeler; a son, Jason Wesley Peeler of Islandton; and a daughter, Emily Elizabeth Peeler of Islandton; there is one grandchild who was the joy of his life, Elizabeth Grace Peeler; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Helena Kinard Godley; and brother-in-law, David Lamar Godley and his wife Gloria of Islandton. There is a nephew, Jeff Godley of Islandton; a niece, Donna Coxwell of Beaufort; and his beloved Scottie, "Izzie".

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Adnah United Methodist Church, for use with their Cemetery Fund; care of Mrs. Jackie Smoak, 124 Hiers Corner Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Family and friends are invited to call at the visitation period from 6:00 until 9:00 this Friday evening at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843.538.5408.
