All the children but the youngest two girls were born in New York, Callie and Carrie in Illinois.
By 1860 he and Olive lived in Lake County, Illinois with son Chester 8, and daughters Carrie and Cally both 2. Their son James was working on the neighboring Clark farm, and Chester's brother Simon is at the next farm.
By 1878 Chester, widowed, married Lucy L. Farmer (Rhodes), also a widow, at Arlington, Van Buren, MI. She died by 1900 as Chester is widowed living in South Haven with daughter Dell Butterfield and her family.
Chester died of 'old age' at 85 years 2 months and 15 days of age, and is buried here with daughter Dell Chamberlin Butterfield's family.
