Bettendorf - Reinhardt G. Tonn, of Bettendorf, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Following a luncheon at the church, burial with military honors will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church or I CARE (energy assistance for the needy.)

Reinhardt was born June 20, 1919, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of William F. and Dora (Brunnquell) Tonn.

He was a graduate of Davenport Central High School where he is on the Hall of Honor. He graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education.

Reinhardt was employed as Corporate Secretary for the Herbst Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Little Rock, Arkansas. He retired in 1982 after 34 years of employment.

During World War II, Reinhardt served in the U.S. Army for 4 1/2 years holding the rank of captain at the time of his discharge. He left Davenport with the National Guard and received his commission with the 697th Field Artillery at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Going overseas in the winter of 1942, he served in major campaigns in Italy, France, Germany and Austria. Reinhardt also had received a Bronze Star during his military career.

He was united in marriage to Marian F. Bowman on November 15, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on August 8, 1985. He later was united in marriage to Lola Bradley-McGinnis on March 15, 1990, in Davenport, Iowa.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lola; his daughters, Elizabeth Tonn, and her husband, Kenneth Craig, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Marcia Koschmann, and her husband, Alan, Albuquerque, New Mexico; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. William Tonn, and Cindy Paszkowski, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; three grandchildren, Matt, Nick, and Kate Koshmann; his sisters, Gertrude Cawiezell, Davenport, Lydia Bahne, of Arizona, Ruth Bahan, Bettendorf, Charlotte Wiese, Rock Island, and Marjorie Goad, of Virginia; and his brother, Dr. Martin Tonn, Moorhead, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian, his parents, and his sisters, Eleanor, Helen, and Irene.
