Regina Catherine Burr
Regina Catherine Burr was born the daughter of August and Mary (Schneberger) Schrandt on July 8, 1909, on the family farm near Festina, Iowa. She passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Guttenberg Care Center at the age of 98. Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo, by the Rev. Marvin Bries. Interment
St. Joseph's Cemetery, Garnavillo. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Garnavillo and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Regina was raised in Festina and she attended St. Mary's Catholic School there. She was later united in marriage to Arnold Burr on Jan. 19, 1932, in Festina. Together they lived in the Garnavillo area and raised two sons. Even though Regina was a homemaker she spent some time working for the Clayton Post Office. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and she enjoyed quilting, cooking and fishing on the Mississippi.
Regina will be missed by her son, Maury (Lois) Burr of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Gary (Chris) Burr of Bishop Ga., Alan (Tracy) Burr of Bradenton, Fla., Marcia (Scott) Bell of Davenport and Brian (Debbie) Burr of Ankeny; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Lloyd in infancy and Brother Gary Burr SVD; two sisters, Theresa Mihm and Matilda Lensing; and four brothers, Albert, John, Louis and Rudy Schrandt.
