ALBERN MILES
---Albern Miles, son of A.J. and Elizabeth Miles, was born in Macon County, April 5, 1845. He was a twin, his sister having died when but eight months old. They were the youngest of twelve children, eight sons and four daughters, all of whom have answered the summons of death but one brother, F.M. Miles, of La Plata.
---He was united in marriage on November 21, 1867 to Miss Eliza Jane Daughtery. To this union were born ten children, six daughters and four sons. His wife died in 1890. On the 9th day of March, 1892, he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Martha Chadwell. To this marriage four children were born, two sons and two daughters.
---He united with the Christian Church in 1868 or 69 and has been a very faithful man ever since. While his health has not permitted his attendance of the present pastorate, he has always been interested in the church. One of his greatest joys was the fast that so many of his children were in Christ.
---He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge about thirty years and was one of its staunch and most faithful members. He was a loving husband and father and a kind friend to all.
---He departed this life after about six months illness at the age of seventy years, two months and twelve days.
---He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, ten children and one step-son, one brother, twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
---Funeral services were held at the Christian Church this afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J.W. Davis, assisted by the I.O.O.F. Lodge. Interment was in La Plata Cemetery.
