Mrs. Elizabeth Hancock Paul Dies of Complication; Funeral Monday
Mrs. Elizabeth Hancock Paul, 71, died early yesterday morning in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Arasin, of 1013 North Vine Street. Death resulted from a complication.
Elizabeth, daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Betzer) Hancock, was born March 17, 1870 at Locust Gap. She was married as a young woman to George Paul, and for more than 40 years was a resident of Gordon. The couple came here eight years ago to make their home.
Mrs. Paul was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Friendly Daughters and Patriotic Order of America, all of Gordon.
Surviving are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Arasin, Shamokin; Mrs. Verna Eddinger, Tamaqua; and Mrs. Edith Yarnall, Allentown, together with four sisters, Mrs. Jane Hornberger and Mrs. Hettie Miller, Reading; Mrs. Caroline McCompsy, Lancaster and Mrs. Bertha Kehler, Gordon. Ten grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren survive also.
Funeral services will be in the Arasin home Monday afternoon at 3:00 (DST). Rev. Richard B. Martin, of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate at the memorial rights. Burial will be in Odd Fellow's Cemetery.
