Mahlon Richard "Mutt" Mahone, 71, of Route 2, Max Meadows (Barren Springs Community), died Tuesday, March 29, 1994 in the Wythe County Community Hospital,

He was born in Wythe County and was the son of the late James Harden and Gladys Anderson Mahone.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Hillsville Masonic Lodge #193, A.F.& A.M.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Lovell Mahone of Route 2, Max Meadows; two daughters, Deena Spencer and Nancy Lineberry, both of Barren Springs; two sisters, Frances Pike of Barren Springs and Opal Webb of Mechanicsville; three brothers, Frederick D. Mahone and Franklin D. Mahone, both of Barren Springs, and James Hermit Mahone of Mechanicsville; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Glenwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peggy Long and the Rev. Earnest Chinault officiating. Burial will be in the Foster Falls Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before time of service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Reese Funeral Home, Austinville. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, is in charge of arrangements.
