September 1932.

Albertine Holmgren was born in Sweden, March 31, 1852. She departed this life September 2, 1932, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.H. Linscott, in Lincoln, Neb., at the age of eighty years, 5 months and 2 days. She had been visiting at Lincoln since December 20.

With her parents she came to America when fifteen years of age. They settled at Rockford, Ill., where her early life was spent. January 17, 1874, she was united in marriage to Ernest Ekwall at Rockford, Ill. To this union eight children were born, four of whom survive her. The four who preceded her to the Better Land were Ellen at the age of two years; Ed, at eleven years, George at thirty-two years and Ernest at forty-eight. Her husband passed away November 27, 1915.

The young couple made their home in Rockford, later moving to Galesburg, Ill. In 1888 they came to Nebraska, locating on a farm near Shickley, in which community the remainder of her life was lived.

She united with the Swedish Methodist Church at Rockford when a girl. On coming to Shickley she transferred her membership to the Swedish Methodist Church here, remaining a member to the end. She was a true follower of the Master, living in quiet fellowship with Him. Her children rise up to call her blessed.

Two year ago she began to fail in health. The last five months she has been very ill, suffering a great deal until the Master took her Home. Through it all she was patient, loving and grateful and expressed the wish to go home.

She leaves to mourn her departure four children: Emil Ekwall of Lincoln, Minnie Linscott of Lincoln, Arthur Ekwall of Martland and Edna Neilsen of Wahoo. Two daughters-in-law, Tillie Ekwall of Topeka, Kas., and Edla Ekwall of Gaylord, Kas., one sister, Lottie Benson of Topeka, Kas; one brother, Charles Holmgren of Los Angeles, ten grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist Church of Shickley Sunday, September 4, 1932, conducted by Rev. Ernest Gaither. The body was interred in the Shickley Cemetery.
