Ruby Lee Sonnier, 83, of Premont, Texas and formerly of Gueydan, Louisiana, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. She was born on September 16, 1927 to Leona and Dugas Beard and united in marriage to Bobby on October 27, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1994.
Ruby was a caregiver as a nurse and later as an assistant administrator at Retama Manor Nursing Home in Falfurrias, Texas before suffering from a stroke in 1992. She loved spending time with her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother-known as 'Nany' to her grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Clarence, Charles, J.D and Fred, sister Jean and son Kenneth James.
Survivors include her son Paul (Francine), daughter-in-law Phyllis, sister Grace Thellan, grandchildren Brian (Leighann) Wes (Leighan), Kristi (Eric) and Shane, eight great-grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Chloe, Delani, Paul, Presleigh, Reagan and Weston.
Ruby leaves a legacy of devoted love to her family and they will be forever grateful to the staff at Trisun River Ridge Nursing Center and Lighthouse Hospice for the care and love they gave her.
A rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Falfurrias, TX.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church in Premont, TX.
Burial will follow at the Premont Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers escorting her to her final resting place.
