Charles & Doris emigrated to Canada from Lithuania in 1928 with their two young children, John (4 years) & Anne (2 years). They travelled on the ship Marburn.

Charles' sister, Annie (Ona), born June 10, 1901 also came to Canada. She was married to John Aksomitis (also Lithuanian), and their son, Peter (born July, 1924).

Charles & Doris settled in Saskatchewan, at Edenwold, on a farm north of town. The Edenwold history book "Where Aspens Whisper" confirm they were there in 1939.

The family became naturalized citizens of Canada in October 1943.

In 1946, they purchased the Edenwold Hotel, where they lived and manged the small cafe and beer parlor. Charlie made a couple of expansions to the cafe and kitchen and added three rooms upstairs.

"Because a new law permitting ladies in beverage rooms came into effect April 1, 1959, Charlie again had to make renovations to his premises. He built on to the north side of the hotel, doubling the beverage room seating capacity. A decorative planter division separated the 'gents only' from the 'ladies and escorts'. The new beverage room opened August 1, 1960.

Anne spent the latter part of the 1940s in Regina where she worked prior to her marriage to Pius Deis of Vibank in September 1949.

John Liutvinskas was also farming during this time. He was tragically killed in a farm accident in 1962. Charles and Doris sold the Edenwold Hotel in October 1962 and retired to Regina.

Charles suffered a stroke in August 1966. His sudden and tragic death occurred about a week later, on August 16 at age 67. In addition to wife Doris, daughter Anne, sister Annie, he was also survived by 2 sisters and a brother in Europe. Funeral service from Christ the King Church, conducted by the Rev. Father E. Mooney.
