Bobby Joe Rogers (Bob) passed from this life Thursday 21 October 2010 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. Bob was born on February 28, 1933 near Dibble, Oklahoma. He was the son of Troy John and Eula Mae (McMahan) Rogers.
Bob a long time resident of Lindsay, grew up in the Dibble and Bradley areas; he attended school in both places. He joined the US Navy in 1951 and was stationed on the USS Andromeda as a Telemann L 3rd Class (Communications Clerk). Once released from active duty he returned to his roots and began a long career in the oil field. While working for Phillips in Odessa, Texas he married his wife of 53 years, Wanda Maxene (Burnes) West on 18 January 1957. In 1959 Bob went to work for The Western Company of North America, retiring after 29 years. He found retirement just a little boring so went to work at the Lynn Boyer Company for another few years.
Bob enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and the annual spring hunt for wild mushrooms. He was a big fan of OU and OSU football and basketball. Bob loved watching any sport on TV. If there was a game on, he was glued to the tube. He enjoyed tropical fish and had an entire room dedicated to his many finny friends. Another of his hobbies was finding friends and sometimes treasure at yard sales; he rarely missed a sale. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He especially enjoyed picking on all his nieces, nephews, kids, and grandkids any and every chance he got. He rarely met a stranger and was among the first to welcome new families to the neighborhood. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and they will tell you he could fix just about anything.
Bob is survived by his wife Maxene of the home, daughter Susie and husband Dave Hardin of Bradley, son Tyson and wife Gwen (Taylor) Rogers of Lindsay, step daughter Joyce (West) Matthew of Lindsay, son-in-law Kenny Wallace of Lindsay, grandchildren Tyrel and wife Tara (Eldred) Rogers of OKC, Trevor and Geoffrey Hughes of Bradley, David Jr and wife Shae (Loux) Hardin of Little Axe, Jason and wife Tory (O'Brien) Hardin of Lexington, Camilla (Lindsey) and husband Dustan Degering of Lindsay, great grandchildren D'Kota Hamilton of Dibble, Kaytlynn, Heather, and Dylan Hardin of Little Axe, Gabe, Anna, and Payton Hardin of Lexington, Stephen and Dennis Degering of Lindsay. Bob is also survived by one uncle, Murrel McMahan of OKC, one sister, Thequntha Mae Stucks of Odessa, TX, one brother, David Gene and wife Velma Rogers of OKC, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was proceeded in death by both parents, two brothers Johnnie Lee Rogers of OKC, and L. D. Rogers of Alex; his beloved daughter Barbara Jean Wallace of Lindsay; nephew Billy Troy Rogers of Lindsay; niece Brenda Lee Ditmore of OKC, son-in-law Kevin B. Hughes of Dallas TX, son-in-law Dean Lindsey of Lindsay, brother-in-law, Kenneth Stucks of Odessa TX, sisters-in-law Patricia (Elliot) Rogers and Carrie (Curtain) Rogers.
