Memorial services will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Neil Peck, C.L.S. officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Alta was born April 27, 1924, in Silver City, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Maudie (Achenbach) Clark. She attended schools in Hastings, Iowa.
On Dec. 14, 1939, she married William G. Quinlain in Dakota City. The couple made their home in Sioux City in 1940. William died Dec. 4, 1970, in Sioux City. Alta worked at Woolworth Department Store for 20 years, then at the Ben Franklin Store in South Sioux City.
She loved to cook, garden and tend to her yard. She very much enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Lawrence and Mary Quinlain of Sioux City; two sisters, Henrietta "Hennie Girl" Jackson and her husband, Carol of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Valdise "Tootie" Kilpatrick of Tabor, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jana Lynn Danielson, Scott Quinlain, Jeff Quinlain and John Quinlain; six great-grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a baby son, Patrick; a son, William A. Quinlain; two brothers; and a sister.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Jana, Scott, Jeff and John.
