Mr. Augustus "Gus" Wesley Williamson, age 79, of Rt. 1, Warne, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, May 16, 1979 in a Hiawassee, GA hospital after a long illness. Mr. Williamson was born in Union County, GA, a son of the late Charles Wesley and Elizabeth "Bettie" Henderson Williamson. He had made his home in Towns County for a number of years in the Gum Log community. He was a member of the Dry Branch Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, Gus was preceded in death by brothers Edward, John, Estes, and Burl Williamson.

Gus is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Messer Williamson of Rt. 1, Warne, NC; two daughters, Mrs. Eulamae Williamson Carringer of Brasstown, NC; and Mrs. Louella Williamson Stuman, of Rt. 1, Warne, NC; two sons, Mr. Odie Williamson of New Ellenton, SC; and Mr. Phillip Williamson of Barnwell, SC. Also one brother, Mr. Charlie Williamson of Rt. 1, Warne, NC and one sister, Mrs. Etna Williamson Brown of Rt. 1, Murphy, NC; nine grandchildren: Wanda, Brenda, Perry, Larry, Jeffrey, Diane, Judy, Bobby, and Kathy; and two great-grandchildren, Kim and Carla.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 18, 1979 at 2 pm at the Many Forks Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Billy Stiles officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Music was by the church choir. Pallbearers were Larry Williamson, Jeffery Williamson, Perry Carringer, Carroll Williamson, and John Gibson.

Banister Funeral Homes of Young Harris and Hiawassee, GA were in charge of arrangements.

Gus is my maternal Grandfather.
