This is Tipp Gandy Mahan, born 01 Apr 1885 in Leesville, Gonzales County, Texas, to John Jay and Mary Tennessee (Card) Mahan. He was a farmer and rancher. He married Gertrude Boyett 19 July 1908 in Nolan County, Texas. They had seven children: Mary L Mahan, Myrtis Louise Mahan, Lyda M Mahan, Terrell B Mahan, Elzie Mahan, Tipp Merwin Mahan, and Tilford Gordon Mahan. Tipp caught the flu on the train ride in October 1918 from Texas to Williams and then developed double pneumonia, so he died before his youngest son was born.
