Garold W. "Gary" Campbell, 78, put up a strong fight against cancer, but his wife and family said, "we want you here with us", so he quietly accepted their invitation on January 18, 2010 at his home in Montesano.
Gary was born July 21, 1931 in Ogden, Utah to Elmer Myron and Fern Peterson (Wilde) Campbell. He joined the Army in 1949 and was stationed in Guam and in the U.S. He was Honorably Discharged in 1953.
He returned to Ogden where he worked for Boise Cascade Corp for 15 years and for Campbell Bros. Ambulance of Ogden for 3 years.
In 1968, he moved to Seattle where he worked as a salesman for Lake City Dodge and Town and Country Dodge.
On April 18, 1970, Gary married Shirley Wanda Adams. She died December 18, 2007.
Gary also owned Pinehurst Auto Sales in Seattle for a number of years. He retired in 1993 and moved to Montesano where he had lived to this day.
Gary's love in life was fixing and painting cars, hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends and taking rides with his loving wife, Shirley.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Colleen Higgins of Montesano; three sons: Gary (Emily) Christian of Kentucky, Michael McGee of Everett and Tom (Lisa) McGee of Renton; stepdaughter: Laurie (Jim) Berbels of Bremerton; sister: LaRae (Jim) Obenauf of Las Vegas, Nev.; half sisters: Bonnie George of Las Vegas, Nev., Sherrie (LeRoy) Prien and Patricia Malloy all of Knoxville, Tenn.; granddaughters: Paula, Miranda, Melissa and Monica; grandsons: Jessie and Wyatt; great-grandchildren: Alex, Mollie and Garett. Gary was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Campbell; a sister: Claudette Morris; brothers: Ronald and Sherman Campbell; half brother, Freddie Dale Howald and half sister, Shirley Crist.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Gary's home, 4221 Meadow Dr., Montesano, WA 98563, on Saturday, January 23rd and Sunday, January 24th from Noon till 6:00 pm, both days.
Gary and Shirley will be inurned at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
