St Paris -- Mrs Carlton (Maggie) Wagner, 78, died in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana at 3:50 am Tuesday. She had been in failing health the past two years.
She was born in Jackson County, May 14, 1895, a daughter of Millard and Emma Downs Cheesman. She lived in Champaign County the past 12 years.
She was married to Carlton Wagner December 1, 1913 in Clark County. Survivors, in addition to her husband are: two sons, Millard of Urbana and Charles of Centerville; two daughters, Mrs Mary Jane Mason, Urbana and Mrs WW Jennie Hagans, Urbana, 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Robert (Verna )Newell, Catawba and Mrs Ernest (Bertha) Langford, Moorefield. A daughter died in 1967.
Private services will be held at 1:30pm Thursday at the Baker Funeral Home with the Rev William Turner, paster of Terre Haute United Methodist church conducting graveside services in Spring Grove Cemetery. The will be no visiting hours. The family request flowers be omitted.
