Frederick E. Nurko, 81, of Hamilton passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at home into God's loving arms with his loving wife and caregiver by his side. Born in Millstone Township, he was also a former resident of East Windsor. Fred was a graduate of Hightstown High School and played soccer with the state championship team. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish for 17 years. Fred was a self-employed farmer harvesting potatoes and grain. He was also owner and president of Millstone Sod Farms until his retirement. He was a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau and the New Jersey Sod Association. Predeceased by his parents, Wasil and Mary (Wygnaniec) Nurko; his previous wife, Pauline H. Weaver-Nurko; his brothers, George, Peter and Paul Nurko; his sisters-in-law, Anna K., Shirley and Margaret Nurko, and his brother-in-law, Stephen Timko, he is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Marilyn Abbott-Nurko; his sons, Frederick G. (Diane) Nurko and Richard E. (Patricia) Nurko; his daughter, Barbara Ann Nurko; his stepdaughters, Patricia (James) Stevens, Mary R. (Kevin) Homan, Theresa M. (Allan) Cross and Dianne and Susan M. Abbott; his stepson, George W. Abbott; his sister, Molly E. Timko; his brother, Arthur (Charlotte) Nurko; sisters-in-law, Penny (Zolton) Lucky and Patricia (Ken) Beers; his grandchildren, Kellie, Kyle and Kasie Nurko; his stepgrandchildren, Nicole and James Stevens, Fred, Joseph and Michael Kelmer, David Makai, Chelsey, Kevin, Rebecca and Kasey Homan, Michael and Alex Cross, Kristin Linke and Jeffrey Linke, and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3816 East State Street Ext., Mercerville, NJ. Interment will follow in Princeton Memorial Park.
