Edward served as PFC in Co H, 12th Infantry of World War I. Prior to serving in WWI, he was a meat-cutter at Pebesh Meat Company in Kellogg, Shoshone Idaho.

He married Valerie Zoellner. He also registered for the World War II draft, and he was age 51 at the time.

All their sons served in World War II. His wife, Valerie, is buried next to him as are their daughters, Kathleen Stein and Monica Stein.
