C.C. first married Frances Mildred (Fannie) Sisk (B: Sept. 12, 1848 Brunswick, Chariton Co., Missouri D: March 31, 1872 Sutter, Calif. Buried in Sutter Cemetery) married on Dec. 19, 1865 in Sutter, and had 5 children, 2 surviving to adulthood (Josephine Girdner and Fannie Pease). After she died he married Annie M. Clements (B: Dec. 8, 1858, Yuba Co. Calif D: Feb. 22, 1905, Sutter, Calif. Buried in Sutter Cemetery), married on January 16, 1879, Sutter, Calif. and had 3 children, Mary Elizabeth Epperson Witte, Handy Clements Epperson, and Cassius Clay Epperson II.

Epperson – At his home at Sutter City, May 5, 1904, C. C. Epperson, a native of Kentucky, aged 68 years. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church South, Sutter City. Sunday, May 8th, at 11 o'clock. Interment, Sutter City Cemetery.
