Dorothea J. "Dorothy" Hook, age 87, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away at 5:35 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., with Deacon Bill Biver officiating. To celebrate Dorothy's life, friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Behr Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on August 27, 1926, the adopted daughter of Louis and Bertha (Leinneger) Cherrier.
Dorothy married Joseph Hook on May 29, 1945, in Leavenworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2007. She was a lifelong Dubuque resident and was employed as a clerk at K Mart for over 23 years. In her free time Dorothy enjoyed camping and fishing and was a avid BINGO player. Her greatest joy was to be with her family.
