Sarah Evalina deLagnel was the infant daughter of Captain Julius Adolphus deLagnel and Harriet Sandford deLagnel. Tragically, the baby died one month after her father. Both were originally buried in the same grave in the cemetery at Fort Columbus, Governor's Island, New York. In 1879, over 500 sets of remains were transferred out of that cemetery. Little Sarah was moved to St. Paul's Cemetery in Alexandria, along with her father. The two continue to share a grave.
