Biography from the Republican for March 21, 1929:

North Salem - Mary Ann Fleece, daughter of John and Elizabeth Doria Fleece, was born July 12, 1842, on a farm west of North Salem, formerly owned by Jacob H. Fleece, now the property of Dr. O. H. Wiseheart.

She died March 13, 1929, at her home, from an attack of pneumonia, which was followed by a fall resulting in a fractured hip.

At the age of four, she left the farm, moving to North Salem. After a residence of five years, she moved to Ladoga, which was her home for thirteen years. She then removed to North Salem, where she lived until her death.

She received her education in the Ladoga Academy. After graduating from the institution, she taught school one year.

On April 28, 1867, she was married to Dr. Thomas F. Adams, who died March 13, 1908. During her married life and widowhood, she always lived in North Salem.

She was the mother of seven children, five of whom survive her, Galen F., Herbert S., and Ernest M., Una Doris and Mrs. Beulah Trotter, together with Richard Trotter, a grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Hadley of North Salem, and Hattie Waters of Los Angeles, California.

She united with the Christian church of this place by letter from Ladoga January 15, 1864.

Mrs. Adams' funeral was held in the home Friday afternoon, Rev. Craig officiating, and burial at Fairview cemetery.
