Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Aarhus, 74, of Bradley Drive, Carlisle, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at her home.
Born on Dec. 13, 1931, the eighth of 10 children of Peter and Margaret Bolles Keller, she graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Vineland, NJ, in 1950.
Besides being employed by Kimbel Glass Co. of Vineland, she was the financial secretary for the American Flint Glass Workers Union. Betty was a volunteer for the American Red Cross at Ft. Riley, KS, and also in Carlisle. She volunteered for St. Patrick's School and Birthright and was a Eucharistic minister at Carlisle Memorial Chapel.
She was the widow of Karsten Aarhus, a veteran of World War II and Vietnam.
She is survived by her children, Randy, Erik, Michael, Gregory, Karsten II and Kjersten Marie and Richard. Grandchildren are Kristopher, Nicholas, Shawn, Josh, Shane, Garth, Leigh Ann and Laura. Great-grand-babies are Bianca Marie, Briana Lee and Aleisha Roxanne. She is also survived of many nieces, nephews and great- and great-great- nieces and nephews. One brother, Robert Paul, is Betty's only surviving sibling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the Mary Queen of Peace Chapel, Carlisle Barracks, with the Rev. Robert K. Glasgow as celebrant.
Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 31, in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover St., Carlisle, with a Rosary recited at 8 p.m.
