He enlisted on 4 March 1862 at Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia and was mustered as a Private in Capt. William P. Jarrett's Company F, 60th Georgia Infantry. April 1862 he was sick in the Savannah hospital and on the 30 April through 1 November 1862 muster roll it is noted that he died 25 May 1862 at hospital in Savannah, Georgia. On the death register filed 10 February 1863 death date is noted as 31 May 1863; death place Savannah, Georgia; and birth place Gilmer, Georgia. Died of Typhoid Fever, age 22, as noted on Savannah Health Department Records.
