Byford I. Allen, 88, of Somonauk, formerly of Joliet, passed away on March 9, 2011, at Jabez Elder Care in Somonauk. Born Jan. 14, 1923, in Eldorado, Ill., to the late John E. and Tollie Allen, he was a 1942 graduate of Sandwich Township High School.
He served his country in the US ARMY World War II
He was a painter all his life.
He is survived by his two sisters, June (Russell) Scott and Judy (Paul) Brandow; four brothers, James (Shirley) Allen, Ruben (Marlene) Allen, Sidney (Mitzi) Allen and David (Peg) Allen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores; and four brothers, Ralph, Joe, Wilburn and Edward H.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 12 at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St., Sandwich, with the Rev. David Kaull officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Sandwich. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. March 11 at the funeral home.
