Parents: Edward James and Marion May (Lyod) Blanchfill.

Mr. Blanchfill served in the US Army from 1948 through 1954.

On February 20, 1954 in Salinas, California, he married Geraldine Anderson.

The Blanchfills moved from Hacienda Heights, California on July 4, 1973 to Yoncalla, Oregon. They owned and operated Jim and Gerry's General Store from 1973 until 1988. Mr. Blanchfill was a member of the Yoncalla Lions Club, St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Drain and to the Knights of Columbus while he lived in California. He enjoyed fishing, rock hunting and camping.

Although James passed away in a Roseburg care center, he was still a resident of Yoncalla.

Survivors include his wife Gerry Blanchfill of Yoncalla; daughter Marie Smith of Milwaukie, Oregon; sons Gregory Blanchfill of Yoncalla, Patrick Blanchfill of Inverness, Florida and Jeffrey Blanchfill of Drain; brothers John Blanchfill of Sun City, California and Robert Blanchfill of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

Mr. Blanchfill was preceded in death by a son Michael Blanchfill in December 2000 and a brother Paul Blanchfill in 1969.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at 10 am in the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Drain. Father Juniper Schneider Celebrant. Graveside services will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Sutherlin.
