She was the wife of the late LeRoy Gaugler; they had celebrated over 50 years of marriage.
Born in Kenilworth, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Edith (Bailey) Christman.
Hazel was a sewing machine operator for the former Yocum Knitting Mill, Pottstown, for over 30 years, retiring in 1970. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting ceramics and creating scrapbooks.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol (Poper) Baer, wife of Paul A. Baer, of Boyertown, Eileen (Poper) Banyai, widow of John Banyai, of Macungie; three brothers, Robert Christman of Pottstown, Carl Christman of Sarasota, FL, James Christman of Kenilworth; four sisters, Ruth, widow of David Moser of Royersford, Margaret, wife of William Cavanaugh of Varico, FL, Dorothy, widow of Ed Banks of Pottstown, Betty, wife of Raymond Keeler of Perkiomenville; 50 nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Franklin "Skip" Chester Poper, Daniel A. Poper; her brothers, John and David Christman; her sisters, Anna Meade, Arlene Sisk and Grace Miller and one grandchild, Michael Banyai.
Funeral services was held March 16, 2011 at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., Pottstown, PA. Interment was in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick.
