Amos A. Worden was born in Mathewsville, Arizona 21 February 1905. He was the son of Frank Worden and Emily Matthews. While he was still a very small baby his parents moved to Livingston, Gila County, Arizona where his father worked freighting lumber to be used in construction of Roosevelt Dam.

From there they moved to Taylor and spent two years there and in Snowflake. They returned to Matthewsville and he attended school in Glenbar up through the fifth grade. From there they moved to Solomonville and then to Lone Star. He attended school in both places. From there they moved to Safford in 1919 and Amos attended Safford High School.

Me married Mildred McBride of Pima and they had two sons: Larry and Don. She died when Don was just a small child.

He quit school and worked at the Safford Depot. Then he started working as a bookkeeper for Don Pace Hardware. Here he learned the plumbing trade and followed it for the remainder of his life. After several years at Don's he worked for Nelson Bro. Plumbing and Electric and was still employed there at the time of his death 8 November 1965.

At this time Beatrice Florence Sowell met and married Amos Worden of Safford 29 November 1935. Their daughter, Florence Kay, was born 4 October 1936 while they were living in Central.

She and Amos did a lot of traveling, going to Utah, Idaho, Yellowstone National Park, along the Pacific Coast and to Florida and Alabama to visit relatives.

Their son, Larry, married Arthella Clonts of Solomon. He died in Canoga Park, California 30 May 1974. Their daughter, Kay, married Bill Morris. She died in Duncan 22 September 1980. Don is now the only living member of their family. He lives in Nevada.
