Marcella M. Ortmeier, 87, of West Point, died October 1, 2002 at Park View Nursing Home in Dodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday Oct. 4, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. James Ryberg and Paul Ortmeier as concelebrandts. Public wake services will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Stalp Funeral Chapel Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a.m. till 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Stalp Funeral Home,
Pallbearers are Russell John Ortmeier, Kevin Ortmeier, Chris Yosten, Mark Hunter, Greg Janky, and Pat Franzluebbers. Giftbearers are Dedra Yosten, Brandon Yosten, and Brian Yosten.
Marcella was born July 6, 1915 at Dodge to Jacob and Emily (Jaloudek) Vitek and attended schools there. On January 6,1936 she married John H. Ortmeier, Sr. at Monterey,
They farmed west West Point until 1965 when they moved to an an acreage near Valley and Marcella worked at the Campbell's Soup Plant in Fremont, After her husband's retirement they moved near Oakland, where she remained until her husband's death in 1992. Marcella then moved to West Point before moving Dodge Nursing Home in 1993.
She was member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at West Point. She loved to cooking, baking gardening and enjoyed her days as a farm wife. Survivors include daughters Janice (Norbert) Steffensmeier of Omaha, and Jonneth "Jo" (Tom)Schwartz, of Woodbury, MN, son John H., Jr., (Geraldine) Ortmeier of Omaha, and 7 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Alvin and Melville Vitek and a half sister Mary Petz. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Stalp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
