Mary graduated from Spiro High School in 1932. She played guard on the '31-'32 basketball team. During the 1940's she worked in Fort Smith with Dr. Vann as a Dental Assistant, and also was employed at Spiro in Jerry and Lucy Caldwell's Cleaners as a seamstress. She was employed with the Spiro School System in 1951 and 1952 as a cafeteria worker. After that, she was employed at Camp Chaffee, Ark. as a Dental Assistant until about 1959 when Chaffee closed. Later she continued working as a Dental Assistant at the Talihina Indian Hospital during 1959-61, eventually ending her career with Civil Service after being employed at Fort Sill in Lawton and Davis Field in Muskogee, Ok. She retired to Spiro Oklahoma in 1970. She was a doll-maker and artist in her later years. Her works of art and dolls are highly prized by her children. Mary's last seven years of her life was a sad time as she was unable to enjoy life and spent those years in the Arkoma and Pocola Nursing Homes.
