ROLLAN SHELLEY
Rollan Shelley, age 92 years old of Whitney died May 7, 1996 in Clifton Hospital. Funeral services were held May 10 at the Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Bobby Booth, Rev. Eddie Booth and Rev. Herb Thompson officiating. There were Masonic graveside services preformed by the Whitney Masonic Lodge #355 AF & AM. Interment was at Bethlehem Cemetery near Whitney.
Mr. Shelley was born December 6, 1903 at Fort Graham in Hill County, Texas to Joseph William and Sarah Jane (Caughron) Shelley. He had lived in the Whitney area all of his life. He married Dova Ward on April 2, 1921, she preceded him in death on February 1, 1984, shortly before their 64th wedding anniversary. He operated a recreation hall for 17 years after his retirement. He was ordained a deacon in 1932 at the First Baptist Church in Whitney where was a member and the oldest deacon. He was a member of Whitney Masonic Lodge #355 AF & AM.
Mr. Shelley is survived by two daughters, Cuma M. Allen of Whitney and Barbara Miles of Carrolton; four grandchildren, Nelda Jo Kettler of Clifton, Shelley Lippe of Carrollton, Lisa Corvison of Miami, Florida and Lynn Miles of San Antonio; five great-grandchildren, David Todd Kettler of Waco, Mark Allen Kettler of Waco, Paul Lee Lippe of Carrollton, J. R. Corvison of Miami, Florida and Angela Corvison of Miami, Florida; and one great-great-grandson, Brycen Samuel Kettler of Waco.
Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors of Whitney were in charge of funeral arrangements.
