Cora Gertrude "Gert" Smith Hall, 92, of 1341 Creasey Rd. passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Westfield, NC. Mrs. Hall was born July 21, 1918 in Stokes County to the late Frank and Lou Ellen Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lawsonville Extension Homemakers Club for more than 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edwin "Edd" Hall, brothers, Ed, Charlie, Dick, and Tom Smith; and sisters, Net Collins, Nell Rogers, Annie Martin, and Nancy Smith. Survivors include sons, Charles (Fonty) Hall and Clifford (Judy) Hall, of Lawsonville; daughters, Francis (Cecil) Holt of Collinsville, VA and Bonnie (Cecil) Light of Lawsonville; a brother, Davis "Dave" (Ethel) Smith of Martinsville, VA; sisters-in-law, Edith Smith of Greensboro and Ruth Lawson Smith of Walnut Cove; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2011, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at the residence.
