Gate City, Va. - Maldon A. Lane, 70, was found dead in a field near his home Thursday [7/6/1944] at noon. His death was attributed to a heart ailment.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Quillen Lane; five sons, Herald Lane, Derby; M. A. Lane, Jr., Kingsport; Joseph Lane, United States Navy; Edward Lane, United States Army, and Robert Lane, Gate City; seven daughters, Mrs. Frank Arnold, Wilmington, Del.; Mrs. John Wilson, Mrs. Melvin Barrett and Mrs. Herbert Morelock, Kingsport; Mrs. H. C. Peters and Miss Evelyn Lane, Gate City.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Antioch
Methodist Church, Gate City, Route 2, in charge of the Rev. C. S. Pendleton and the Rev. John Vermillion.
