Mrs. Mattie Louvenia (Vena) Lane, 83, died Monday afternoon at Holston Valley Community Hospital.
Born in Scott County she had spent her life there until 1945 when she came to Sullivan County. For the past few months she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Jim Lay, at 432 Rogers Ave., Cedar Grove Community. She attended Hill Top Mission Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. John (Etta) Wilson, Mrs. Melvin (Elizabeth) Barrett, Mrs. H. R. (Grace) Morelock, Mrs. Jim (Betty) Lay, Mrs. Andy (Evelyn) New, all of Kingsport and Mrs. Frank (Marie) Arnold, Blountville; sons, Herold, Derby, Va., Maldon, Joe, Edward and Robert Lane, all of Kingsport; 32 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
