E. P. Quillin, Well Known Citizen of Scott County Dies at Home of Son in Nelsontown Friday Night

E. P. Quillin, aged 83, died at the home of his son in Nelsontown, Tenn., at 11:50 Friday night following a stroke of paralysis a few days previous.
Mr. Quillin was born in Knoxville, Tenn., December 14, 1844 was a resident of Scott county practically all his life. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he was among the first to volunteer, serving throughout the war.
He was the father of 12 children several of whom survive him. He is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Maggie Bushong, of Kingsport and Mrs. Eliza Broadwater of St. Paul. One brother of St. Louis, Mo., also survive him.
At an early age Mr. Quillin professed faith in Christ and joined the Southern Methodist Church at Antioch where he remained a life-long member.
Funeral services were conducted at Antioch Sunday. Revs. Simpkins, Vermillion and Blair officiated. Interment was in the cemetery nearby.
Many worthy tributes were paid the memory of this well known citizen by the speakers, some of whom had known him from early manhood.

E. P. Quillin Dies in Nelsontown - Burial at Antioch, Virginia

E. P. Quillin, aged 83 years, died at his home in Nelsontown Friday evening at 11:50 o?clock.
Funeral services will be conducted at Antioch, Scott County, Va., at 11:00 o?clock this morning, the Reverend Vermillion officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
The deceased was preceded to the grave by his wife, his companion for almost a half century, who died in 1911.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for the major portion of his life and was very active in church and charitable work.
He is survived by six sons, Robert, Willie, John, Elisha, Stephen and Alfred Quillin; six daughters, Godie, Lizzie, Mary, Effie, Sallie and Venia; 44 grand children; 23 great grand-children; two sisters, Maggie Bushong, of Kingsport, amd Lizzie Broadwaters, of St. Paul, Va., one brother, of St. Louis, Mo.
