His great grandfather John Madan/Madden 1742 served in the 7th Massachusetts regiment in the Revolutionary War as a Sgt.
His headstone was ordered by the federal govt through a private contract agency that provided headstones for deceased civil war veterans that did not have them. His head stone was miss spelled from information off of a service card that was miss spelled.
He is buried with his brothers and sister at Wendell cemetery however his siblings graves are unmarked (no headstones) My assumption is the family was poor and could not afford them.
