BRODHEAD - Miss Millie Burtness, 89, a lifelong resident of this area, died Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Elmer Coplien, Brodhead, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 2, 1874, in Spring Valley Township, Rock County, the daughter of Helge and Betsy Anderson Burtness. She was a member of the Orfordville Lutheran Church. Surviving are a brother, Martin Burtness, rural Brodhead; four half-brothers, Britton Burtness, Bayfield, Herman Burtness, Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Eddie and Harold Burtness, both of Orfordville; and three half-sisters, Mrs. Robert Liska, Milwaukee, Mrs. Glenn Holden and Mrs. Tillman Everson, both of Orfordville. Three sisters and a brother predeceased her. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Orfordville Church, the Rev. Ronald A. Nowland officiating.
