OCALA, Fla. — Lois Rae Carson, 82, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at her Ocala, Fla., home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

Lois was born July 12, 1929, in Dieterich, the daughter of Gordon William and Oma (Smith) Carter. She married Almus Milton Carson on Feb. 7, 1951, at Kaskaskia Country Club in Arcola. They lived in many cities and retired to Ocala, Fla., where they lived the past 21 years.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, reading, friends and family. She also was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include three sons, Bill Carson and Heidi of Tuscola, Dr. Douglas Carson and wife Glenda of Lexington, Ky., and Jeff Carson and wife Lilly of Las Vegas, N.V.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Howard Carter and Yvonne of Franklin, N.C., and Richard Carter and Betty of Winter Haven, Fla.; three sisters, Helen Niccum of Effingham, Carolyn Kinkelaar of Effingham and Martha Barker and Clayton of Paducah, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
