Death of Samuel Putnam
Pinned under his big touring car alongside a small bridge, near Albion, Pa., through which his car had plunged, Samuel C. Putnam, 1492 Grace Ave., Lakewood, president of the Putnam Lumber Co., was slowly crushed to death yesterday afternoon while several farmers who had witnessed the accident tried in vain to lift the big car from the dying man.

The accident happened at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon while Putnam and his wife and his 10 year old son were on their way in the automobile to Cambridge Springs, Pa., where they had intended spending the weekend. Mrs. Putnam and the boy were only slightly injured.

The funeral of Samuel C. Putnam, 1493 Grace Av., Lakewood, who was killed in an automobile accident near Albion, Pa., on Thursday afternoon, will take place from the family residence at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The remains will be removed to the home this morning from Saxton's undertaking establishment, where they were taken after the accident. Interment is to be at Meadville, Pa.

A son of the dead man, Harwood Putnam, who was severely bruised in the accident, will recover.
