Services Held In Childress For R.C. Holland, 75


R.C. Holland, 75, died Saturday, December 31, in the Veterans Hospital in Bonham. He was born on a farm four miles south of Mansfield, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elias H. Holland and attended the Mansfield public schools. He was a member of the Mansfield Presbyterian and later the Childress Presbyterian Church.


Mr. Holland served in World War I in France and attended Virginia Military Institute where he was an upper classman of George Patton. After the war he worked in the oil fields and later went to work for the highway department at Childress where he was in charge of the equipment. He has been in and out of the Veterans hospital a number of times. While there he served as librarian.


Services were held in the funeral chapel in Childress Monday. Interment was in the Childress cemetery.


Survivors include his wife Sue of Childress; one son, Robert Charles Jr., who is a Presbyterian minister, studying in Switzerland; one daughter, Judith Holland; three grandchildren; and one

sister, Mrs. Bettie Holland of Mansfield.
