Waco Tribune-Herald, Waco, Texas, January 16, 1990 - "Mrs. Clara Mae Harris - Whitney - Mrs. Clara Mae Harris, 87, of Whitney, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marshall & Marshal Funeral Home Chapel in Whitney, the Rev Herb Thompson, the Rev. Joe Bob Boyd and Roger De Hart officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery near Whitney.
Mrs. Harris was born May 25, 1902, in Giddings. The family moved to Whitney in 1904, and Mrs. Harris lived there all of her life except for four years in Hillsboro.
She was married to L. W. (Pete) Harris on Dec. 29, 1923. He died Sept. 4, 1970. She worked as a clerk in Hampton Dry Goods Store, Harris Drug Store and Wigham Drug Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, L. W. Harris Jr. of Baytown, Oliver Richard Harris of Fresno, Calif. and Robert D. Harris of Saginaw; two daughters, Karon Worley and Margaret De Hart, both of Whitney; a brother, Drew Behringer of Whitney; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family has designated Bethlehem Cemetery Association for memorials."
